James Horner (August 1953 – June 2015) in 1997

Approximately 250 minutes

The soundtrack of motion picture Titanic is not only the highest-selling orchestral soundtrack but also an exceptional score that highlights James Horner’s talent as a composer. He weaved the storyline of the motion picture – from the romance to the tragic downfall of the cruise – using both electronics as an orchestra to create layered music.

About The Composition

Horner moved away from the traditional film score for Hollywood blockbuster – full-on fanfares and fortissimo scores. Instead, he integrated the Irish background of the lead character, Jack Dawson, and the music highly reminiscent of the likes of Enya and Clannad into the scores.

The success of Titanic as a record-breaker in box office and the Oscars had placed high demands on Horner.
