A native of Kuching, Sarawak, Eugenia Lou is one of the founding members of the award-winning Ensemble Virama. Her main double bass teacher was Wolfgang Steike, a former member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the current principal double bassist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed in the masterclasses of Klaus Stoll, Gary Karr, Paul Ellison and Charles Garrett. Eugenia was also the founding principal double bassist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra under Maestro Kevin Field. 

She has been a guest player for the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, Selangor Symphony Orchestra and many others. She was invited to perform by the Asian Symphony Orchestra in Vietnam and Cambodia under the baton of Maestro Yoshikazu Fukumura. In 1999 and 2001, Eugenia performed with the Asian Youth Orchestra in 30 different cities around the United States, Canada, Japan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. 

Besides being a freelance performer, Eugenia is also a passionate educator. Her students range from the age of 6 to 70. Aside from private teaching, she is also a double bass tutor at the Bentley Music Academy, Kolej Yayasan Saad, Malacca (KYS), Sri KL, Tsun Jin High School and Pin Hwa High School.
