Brian Tan started playing the piano at the age of six under the guidance of Dr Jessenzzth Chua. He completed his DipLCM piano diploma in 2019 and ALCM in 2021. With the STeM Trio consisting of Sho Yong Shuen and Stephen Mak as well as Brian himself, they won the Malaysian Wind Music Prize in August 2022. During his high school years at Heng Ee High School, Brian had the opportunity to play bass clarinet in the Wind Orchestra, clarinet in the Marching Band, and play guitar in the Jazz Band. The music he loves has always been jazz, but despite a passion for Debussy and Ravel’s Impressionism, jazz has been what sparked his interest in music from an early age. Apart from playing the piano, he is also pursuing a business degree with a specialization in marketing at the moment.
