BIOGRAPHY

The cellist Anastasia Feruleva inspires audiences all over Europe with her captivating expressiveness and authentic personality. Joining compelling technical skills to a profound artistic eloquence, she is hailed by critics for her “convincing, passionate and captivating interpretations” and “organic phrasing and vivid intensity till the very last note..” (Frankfurter Zeitung).

Anastasia has performed in world-renowned halls including Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, Leidse Stadsgehoorzaal, Tivoli Vredenburg, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, Salle Cortot Paris, Atheneum Bucharest, Liszt Academy Budapest, Euskalduna Concert Hall Bilbao.

As a soloist she has appeared in a large range of concertos collaborating with orchestras like the Württembergische Philharmonie, the Noord Nederlands Orchestra, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest/Nederlands Kamerorkest.

An avid chamber musician, Feruleva frequently appears to such festivals as the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and Academy, Tsinandali Festival and Academy, Clasclas Festival, International Chamber Music Festival Joao Pessoa Brazil, Orlando Festival, Storioni Festival, Giverny Chamber Music Festival. She collaborated with distinguished artists and ensembles such as Raphael Wallfisch, Michel Strauss, Philippe Graffin, Silke Avenhaus, Rick Stotijn, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Camerata Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Atrium Quartet.

Highlights of the recent seasons are performances of the 1st Cello Concerto by Shostakovich with the Nederlands Kamerorkest and performances of the Cello Concerto by Peteris Vasks in Muziekgebouw aan het IJ in Amsterdam, Great Guild Hall in Riga and the newly built GORS concert hall in Rezekne, where she collaborated with the composer himself, who ardently acclaimed her riveting and expressive interpretation. Her highly acclaimed Debut CD with the Dutch pianist Frank van de Laar “Ballets Russes” has appeared on the label Gutman Records. Furthermore Anastasia gave a warmly received debut recital in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam as part of the series “Young Masters on Tour”. In February 2021 an enthusiastically received new CD was released on the label TRPTK. This CD “L’esprit du temps”, featuring works by Enescu, Stravinsky, Lili and Nadia Boulanger has been highly appraised in magazines like “Das Orchester” and “Luister”.

Born in Arkhangelsk, Russia, Anastasia Feruleva started playing the cello at the age of five. Her concert engagements have taken her throughout the whole of Europe including the Netherlands, where she has obtained her bachelor with Larissa Groeneveld at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with 10 with distinction. Under the guidance of Prof. Troels Svane she has finished her master studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin and her Konzertexamen in Lübeck with the highest mark.

Recently Anastasia has completed her postgraduate education with Professor Ivan Monighetti at the Reina Sofia School of Music in Madrid.

Furthermore, her artistic development has been influenced and mentored by such illustrious artists as David Geringas, Gary Hoffman, Ralph Kirschbaum, Wolfgang-Emmanuel Schmidt, Jens-Peter Maintz, Reinhard Latzko, Arto Noras, Miklós Perényi, Antonio Meneses, Eberhard Feltz, and Raphael Wallfisch.

Anastasia has received prizes in various competitions from a very early age on. She has been awarded the second prize and the prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work at the Cello Biënnale competition 2016 in Amsterdam. She has gained an orchestra experience being a member of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra as well as playing regularly with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
She plays a cello by Rombouts (1710).
